A Rainier Club Wedding in Black and White

If you’ve been on our Alante Photography Facebook page, it’s probably pretty obvious that Loren and I love the classic feel of a black and white photo.  It’s been on my to do list to create and entire, timeless wedding completely done in black and white for a while so when I was thinking back to some of our recent weddings, the sweet moments between Melissa and Tay0h along with the stunning architecture of their venue, The Rainier Club was an irresistible choice.  Those chandeliers, that staircase, the old world charm of the ceilings – the venue is a perfect architectural fit for classic weddings!  Enjoy a look at their day below!

Modern Wedding at Holy Names Academy and Washington Athletic Club

I like to call Ariana and Brandon our jet set couple.  They are so well traveled and incredibly stylish.  Their engagement story alone took place across the world!

Ariana and Brandon get engaged:

“It started in October 2012 when Brandon told Ariana to request vacation for the second week in December. Without asking much, she did. Two months passed and before she knew it, it was December 1st, but she still had no idea where she was traveling to!

After much effort to find any information out from friends and family, Brandon told her to pack a passport and winter-like clothing. It was until about 30 minutes before the cab arrived for the airport that Ariana found out her secret destination. Brandon had set out clues to reveal the location — travel itinerary, yen, soy sauce and Japanese rice. With Ariana being so anxious and excited she missed all of the obvious clues and when straight for the travel itinerary…TOKYO! They were headed to Toykyo, Japan in the next 2 hours.

10 hours later, two global first class seats, lots of excitement and sleep they finally landed in Tokyo. After checking into the hotel, Brandon wanted to take Ariana to an area in the middle of the city called Shibuya (think Times Square in NY). After some sight-seeing and dinner, Brandon took Ariana back to the main square where he got down on one knee and proposed. A large crowd had gathered, people were clapping, taking photos and congratulating them. Their engagement date was 12/12/12!!”

Their wedding here in Seattle was held at Holy Names Academy {Ariana’s former high school!} for the ceremony and Washington Athletic Club for their reception.  They assembled a great vendor team to bring their concept and day to reality.  Here it is in the couple’s own words:

“We had a year and half engagement which gave us a lot of time to completely plan out our dream wedding! We knew we wanted to have a Catholic wedding so when choosing the church location Holy Names Academy Chapel, where Ariana went to high school, it was the perfect location.
We wanted our reception venue to be a mix of modern, elegant and romantic and the Washington Athletic Club Crystal ballroom included every aspect of that. The large crystal chandeliers were amazing centerpieces so it was easy to decorate around them as the focal point. Our wedding colors were soft neutrals – champagne, off white, cream and a touch of blush.
A fun aspect that we included in our reception was we made a signature drink in honor of our dog. We called it “The Gracie”. It was a light and refreshing champagne cocktail that was truly loved by both the men and women guests :)
We wanted our guests to really enjoy the reception and dance the night away so we had our DJ, Chris Graves, add extensive up-lighting to make the room glow in a purple/pink hew around the room (which bounced off the big chandeliers perfectly).
Our first dance wasn’t your typical song. We chose ” I’m Gonna Make You Love Me” by Dianna Ross & The Supremes. This song was very special to Brandon and I because we love oldies! Brandon grew up listening to oldies with his grandparents and we wanted an off the beaten path oldie song to start the night off right!
Another special moment of the wedding ceremony was having my cousin, Lauren Dawson, who is a professional opera singer, sing me down the aisle and also during our candle lighting ceremony. She sang “A thousand words” to walk me down the aisle and the beautiful “Ave Maria” during the candle lighting.”

The whole day was completely stunning so enjoy a look at it below!  Huge thanks to Ariana and Brandon for such a fantastic day and to our fellow vendors for all of their hard work!

Metallic linens and a flower wall at Herban Feast’s Foundry

Herban Feast is known for some of the best food in town and likely the best open houses, too! Here’s a look at the incredible design that Kaleb Norman James Design did with his stunning layers of metallics and florals. We’re super loving that spangled linen from La Tavola as it reminds us of our sparkle backdrops.

Kellie and Kevin’s first look on the streets of Sayulita, Mexico

There were SO many moments we loved about Kellie and Kevin’s wedding in Sayulita and we will be sharing them here on the blog – to kick it off, we wanted to show you their stunning first look surrounded by the colorful flags hanging along the villa.

Wei Wei and Paul’s Korean Wedding Celebration Along the Seattle Waterfront

Wei Wei and Paul came to us after we photographed their friends Nayung and Jeff’s wedding.  Jeff and Paul were both in the University of Washington’s Dental program and are now accomplished DDS doctors!  You may remember Wei Wei and Paul from their epic Olympic Peninsula engagement session.  They are the ones with that sunset!  Wei Wei and Paul were married in April at the Edgewater Hotel and – of course – the weather was perfect!  These two have crazy good weather mojo :)  Before the ceremony and the Korean tea ceremony, we hung out with them and their bridal party all along the Seattle waterfront.  First look on the rooftop of Bell Harbor, mayhem at the Pike Place Market, and a quick break for some ginger beer :)  Along with having that perfect weather luck, the cherry blossoms were absolutely putting on a show.  Enjoy a look at the day below!
