Unique Wedding Cakes – The Seattle Wedding Show

So you may have noticed that Loren and I were once again participants in the Seattle Wedding Show.  Every year it’s fun to set up our booth and basically be a part of a pop-up “wedding village”  There’s the fantastic folks at Black Tie Espresso who {thank God} supply us with coffee.  There are cake and cupcake samples galore and oodles of eye candy from all of the talented designers, florists, stationers, and dress boutiques.

Between Loren and me, I’d say I’m the relatively shy one.  A couple of times during the show, I’ll sneak out of our booth {if you saw me there, perhaps you witnessed “the move” to get between our display tables} and I head out into the show, camera in hand, to photograph some of the delightful creations.

This year, I completely fell in LOVE with Tacoma based cake studio, A Tier Above.  Chefs Shelley and Bette each had created some jawdropping cakes and amongst all of those, these two just took my breath away.  There’s the sushi/zen cake {which my friend Marcus commented on as looking like a huge wasabi cake.  Mmmmmmm…..} and then there’s the epically creative cake in the bird house.  The bird cake I LOVE for the puffy/swirly mint colored icing.  The glass house would be just perfect for a backyard or garden wedding.  The sushi themed cake blew my mind.  Especially because it comes complete with little confection nigiri pieces and maki.  You know those have to be made from fondant and I am a fondant addict.  Yum!

I’ve got soooooooo many awesome photos from the talented vendors from the show and this is just the first tiniest bit of the cool stuff I have to share.  A lot of it is up on our Facebook page but I’ll be talking about it more in depth here on the blog :)

Enjoy these creative wedding cakes and check back soon for some gorgeous white on white florals, letterpressed invitations, and more!
